Line up at Barkston Heath, 61st Troop Carrier Group.
Between 1500 hours and 1600 hours the gliders arrived in the Groesbeek area. Before the gliders arrived, the landing zones were battlefields. A number of gliders missed the LZ.

18 September

23 September 1944. Gliders and towplanes pass the windmill of Bergijk enroute to the LZ. Previous flights over this Southern Route turned north in the area of Gheel. On this day, the turning point was further east, to allow the planes to fly over friendly territory.
